Full-service interior design is about far more than selecting finishes. It combines creative expertise, technical planning, communication and project management to guide a renovation from concept to completion.
When people first enquire about working with White Lime Interiors, they often think they’re hiring an interior designer to design their home.
While that’s certainly part of what I do, it’s only part of the puzzle.
In reality, clients are investing in years of experience across multiple creative disciplines, plus the ability to guide an entire renovation from the first conversation through to the moment they walk into their completed home.
The drawings, mood boards and beautiful finishes are simply the visible result.
The real value lies in everything that happens behind the scenes and is often what clients don’t actually see. My service isn’t to overcomplicate renovations, worry you with construction decisions, or talk through every fine detail in hours of meetings.
You trust that I’ll see through the agreed design intent, and that’s what I am doing whilst you go about your busy life. This is the purpose of our full-service interior design and project management.
Every Experience Shapes Every Project
Long before I founded White Lime Interiors, I studied fine art, then moved into 3D Design, specialising in ceramics, furniture making, and mixed media. Alongside this came a passion for fine art, an appreciation for craftsmanship and an understanding of how objects are made, not just how they look.
Those experiences continue to influence every project I undertake. From being able to think in 3D, to using software to illustrate that thinking to clients, to the range of materials available, to the best wood joints and joinery designs, and also to the sculptural pieces in my styling; these integral factors ensure a turn-key move-in day!
When I’m designing bespoke joinery, I’m not simply drawing cabinetry. I’m thinking about construction, proportions, materials, ergonomics and how every element will be manufactured.
When selecting finishes, I consider texture, light, durability, and how materials will age over time.
When designing a room, I think in three dimensions, visualising how every sightline, transition, and detail will feel before a single wall is built. This allows clients to make confident decisions, because they aren’t trying to imagine the finished result – we create it together.
Design Is Only Half the Story
A successful renovation is rarely determined by good design alone.
The most beautiful scheme in the world can quickly become stressful if communication breaks down, trades aren’t coordinated or decisions aren’t made at the right time.
This is why I chose to combine interior design with project management.
For my clients, this means one person oversees both the creative vision and the practical delivery. Remember, the builder is there to build and may schedule his team, but they can only do that successfully when they know the full plan. In addition, they only go so far; they won’t worry about the look and feel of the lighting, whether the window dressings are up, or whether your furniture fits.
Rather than interpreting drawings, chasing contractors, answering endless site questions, or coordinating multiple consultants, every project contributor has one consistent point of contact who understands every aspect of the project.
That continuity removes uncertainty, prevents costly misunderstandings and keeps everyone moving in the same direction.
Communication Is My Greatest Design Tool
Perhaps the most valuable skill I bring to a renovation isn’t one you can see in a portfolio.
It’s communication.
Over the years, I’ve worked with homeowners, architects, builders, electricians, plumbers, joiners, decorators, structural engineers, suppliers, surveyors and specialist craftspeople; But also many people from all walks of life, from teams that collaborate successfully.
I’ve even studied learners and how we each take on and understand information differently. I have to be flexible, depending on who I am speaking to.
Each has a different way of working.
Each speaks a slightly different language.
One of my roles is translating between them.
Sometimes that means discussing technical construction details with a contractor.
An hour later, it might mean explaining those same decisions to a client in a way that feels clear, reassuring and free from industry jargon.
Good communication isn’t simply about talking.
It’s about listening carefully, reading situations, understanding personalities and knowing how to adapt your approach depending on who you’re working with.
That ability keeps projects collaborative instead of confrontational.
It helps solve problems before they become disputes. And ultimately, it creates a far more enjoyable renovation experience for everyone involved.
Bringing Calm to Complexity
Home renovations involve hundreds, often thousands, of decisions.
Layouts.
Lighting.
Electrical positions.
Joinery.
Bathrooms.
Kitchens.
Finishes.
Furniture.
Procurement.
Schedules.
Budgets.
Site coordination.
For most homeowners, this can feel completely overwhelming.
My role isn’t to make those decisions for clients.
It’s to simplify them.
I filter information, present options clearly, anticipate issues before they arise and ensure decisions happen at the right stage of the project. Understanding the decisions that change everything in a renovation
is vital to protecting the finished result. This allows clients to stay involved without carrying the mental load of coordinating an entire renovation themselves.
More Than a Beautiful Home
Of course, every client wants a beautiful home.
But by the time a project is complete, they usually tell me something different.
They tell me how much easier the process felt than they expected.
How they never felt alone.
How they always knew what was happening next.
How reassuring it was to have someone advocating for both the design and the delivery.
Sometimes even just, ‘Thank goodness we have you, Katy.’
That, to me, is the true measure of success.
What You’re Really Investing In
When you choose to work with White Lime Interiors, you’re investing in far more than design expertise.
You’re benefiting from a background in creative disciplines that influences every detail.
You’re gaining someone who understands construction as well as aesthetics.
You’re working with a communicator who can confidently bring together homeowners, contractors and specialists around a shared vision.
And perhaps most importantly, you’re choosing someone whose goal isn’t simply to create a beautiful home – but to make the entire renovation journey feel organised, collaborative and genuinely enjoyable.
Because exceptional interiors aren’t created by beautiful ideas alone.
They’re created by bringing together creativity, technical knowledge, careful planning and great people – and making them work seamlessly together.
You can see this approach brought to life across our completed interior design and renovation projects.
